Before launching into today’s tip, let’s stop . . . and just be . . .

Take a deep breath, and just be . . .

For the next few moments, find complete stillness . . . and just be . . .

----------------------------------------- pause ------------------------------------------

As the cliché goes, we are human beings, acting as though we are human doings.  It’s an obvious statement, yet we go through each day always in motion, either physically or mentally.  In response to “how are you?” we answer, “busy”.  Even when we’re relaxing, we’re doing something – reading, cooking, watching TV, socializing, exercising.  Unless we actively press the pause button, our brain is constantly processing information, and over time, this wears on our nervous system.

During this time of year, when our days are filled with holiday shopping, traveling, and socializing, honor your brain and find moments to pause throughout the day.  Stop what you’re doing, take a deep breath, and just be.  If you allow yourself these brief opportunities to reset, you will actually notice an increase in your productivity and creativity.

So whatever your holidays entail, intersperse your doing with periods of being.  The more you access that state of being, the more centered, peaceful, and joyful you will feel.
