Coming off of an awesome MindfulMarch, it was a good reminder how important a regular meditation practice is. As many of you know, I’m a huge advocate for yoga and meditation. But calming the mind in general is something I find to be really important in my everyday life. This can be done in silence and stillness, in a good song, or while being with your friends and family.

Maintaining a peaceful mind has been shown to improve concentration and encourage more patience and tolerance to situations beyond your control. Further to that, individuals that are able to calm their mind gain a sense of inner strength and power, which in time can boost overall self- confidence.

I find that I am able to get into the right frame of mind if I think of those in my life that mean a lot to me. This meditation is a great way to cultivate positive feelings about your loved ones. For me, sometimes if I’m feeling really stressed or overwhelmed, focusing on my breathing helps me calm down and have more clarity with the situation I’m dealing with. Next time you find yourself losing control over a situation or feeling uneasy with certain emotions, try finding your breath and calming your mind.
