Partner Studio and Teacher Criteria
WHAT ARE THE STUDIO CRITERIA?
Required
Strong commitment to offering yoga for healing purposes
Studio offers at least two gentle or restorative yoga classes throughout the week
Not overly crowded
Ground level access or elevator
Welcoming and vibrant student population and community
Commitment to appoint a contact to maintain consistent communication with LYB during the program
Commitment to participate in LYB’s annual fundraiser, MindfulMarch, in honor of Brain Injury Awareness Month
Low teacher turnover rate
Preferred
Teachers are experienced in therapeutic yoga
Offers adaptive yoga classes, i.e., Chair Yoga
In close proximity to tertiary care facility that offers TBI in/outpatient care
Accessible via public transportation
Currently offers donation-based classes
WHAT ARE THE TEACHER CRITERIA?
Required
Minimum 200 Hour YTT Certification
Attends LYB Yoga Teacher Training Workshop
Has yoga teacher insurance
Teaches at least one gentle, restorative, or meditation class on the regular schedule
Embodies a compassionate, empowering, and gentle teaching style
Experience teaching gentle and/or restorative yoga
Experience teaching meditation and pranayama
Experience, or strong interest in, teaching people with TBI
Experience, or strong interest in, teaching individuals with physical and/or cognitive limitations
Commitment to teach the 6-week LYB FUNdamentals series and LYB friendly classes
(Newer teachers are required to first assist before leading a series to enhance their teaching experience)
Preferred
Registered with Yoga Alliance
Actively teaching for minimum of 5 years
Experience teaching therapeutic and/or adaptive yoga
Planning to teach at current studio for the foreseeable future
