Day 14 : A Breathing Meditation from Thich Nhat Han

This beautiful breathing meditation, as taught by the Buddhist Monk Thich Nhat Hanh, aims to explore awareness of the breath as a means to bring your focus into the present moment.

Ryan Leier is a teacher, a student, and a creative force who leads with his heart and guides with his wisdom—inherent wisdom and wisdom acquired through extensive study. A student of the Krishnamacharya yoga lineage, Ryan has received teachings directly from the Master Sri BKS Iyengar and the Ashtanga Guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. He now studies primarily with Srivatsa Ramaswami, a student of 33 years of Sri T. Krishnamacharya. Ryan also continues to gather wisdom through the extraordinary teachings of Father Joe Pereira (Iyengar Yoga), Baron Baptiste, Dina T, Danny Paradise, Eddie Modestini and Nicki Doane (Maya Yoga). At home, he has roots in the local sacred teachings, and regularly studies with and serves the Elders in his home province of Saskatchewan. These various teachings have given him an invaluable root system of ancestry and technique—yet Ryan’s yoga classes have an intangible, some might even say magical, quality that can only be attributed to him. Ryan’s teachings also extend beyond his asana classes, through the non-profit he co-created, Vinyasa Yoga For Youth, the international One Yoga studios and his role as a Global Yoga Ambassador for lululemon. Ryan believes that through steady practice and devotion, all people – regardless of their age, gender, race or religion, can experience the Oneness of Yoga.

Day 13 : Body Scan Meditation

During today’s meditation we will bring balance to the nervous system by shifting the focus throughout the body. My intention is to help you cultivate a compassionate awareness of your body and to promote total body relaxation.

Jessica Ryan is a Love Your Brain certified yoga instructor currently living in Winnipeg Manitoba. She has been instructing yoga (Vinyasa, Restorative, Modo, Yin) since 2010 and has continued to pursue her passion of helping people move pain free by becoming a Certified Athletic Therapist. She believes in a holistic style of healing and looks at the person as a whole when treating musculoskeletal injuries. Studying soft tissue release, craniosacral therapy and reiki has added to her ability to facilitate healing. After sustaining her own concussions in 2017 Jessica has been driven to help spread awareness and end stigma associated with invisible illnesses like tbis and Post Concussion Syndrome. She is currently working towards returning to her practice as an Athletic Therapist and plans to specialize in helping others find their resilience post brain injury

Day 12 : Like A River

This 6 minute meditation invites you to calm your mind and relax your body. While using the memory of a river and its flowing water, this practice encourages you to use your breath like a paddle to handle life + your thoughts. I encourage you to get comfortable, relax, and let ease flow through you.

It is Steph's life goal to positively impact the world's understanding and use of yoga as an impactful tool within TBI rehabilitation and care.

Day 11 : The Space Between

This guided meditation begins by encouraging us to watch the mind, acknowledging thoughts simply as appearances on the canvas of consciousness. We will then begin to tag thoughts as either past or future to identify when they pull us out of the present moment—resting in the space between.

Based in Fort Collins, Colorado, Laura is a yoga teacher, travel enthusiast, and above all else, a believer in love. She believes that in all forms, in all ways, love is at the heart of healing. Laura teaches in the LoveYourBrain yoga program and has witnessed again and again that breath and movement are universal. Inspired by the people she has met along the way, Laura is committed to offering an accessible practice and being a part of the movement to reshape the way we think, feel, and talk about our brains. She recently gave birth to a daughter, Ashby, who has given her the greatest practice yet, motherhood.

Day 10 : Inside Our Snow Globe: A Vipassana Meditation

Vipassana means seeking clarity, a mindful practice focusing centered awareness on one object.  I sometimes visualize myself, in the human experience, like a snowglobe. When I feel unsettled, I notice my snowglobe is shaken and there are flurries of thoughts, emotions or sensations. When I choose to be still and focus my mind  on my breath, it’s as if my snowglobe flakes settle to the bottom, and what remains is a clear picture of who I am on the inside.

Day 9 : Meditation For Awareness

Today’s practice encourages awareness of your breath and your body with the intention of connecting you to the present moment.

I am a mama bird, yoga teacher, social worker, kitchen explorer and nature lover.  I believe in yoga because I believe in happiness! I believe in breath, movement and mindfulness. I am passionate about my practice, and know that my life is better because of it. I teach because I know that yoga can change lives. It definitely changed mine. Not only does it improve physical, mental and emotional health, but it also leads people to live in a healthier, compassionate and more mindful way.

You can practice with me in the LoveYourBrain Ottawa, Canada, program at PranaShanti Yoga Centre Centre (, through my public classes at Pure Yoga Ottawa (, and online here

Day 8 : Breathe, Relax, Notice, Choose (B.R.N.C)

We’ll use the practice of Breathe, Relax, Notice, and Choose, to draw our attention to ‘accepting’ our emotional experiences. This can be really hard, particularly if we don’t like what shows up. Acceptance doesn’t mean that we approve of what we find, but instead, it’s a way to acknowledge that, okay, this is the reality, so how can I respond in a way that serves me best? There is a helpful Buddhist analogy of the two arrows -- the first arrow signifies the inevitable discomfort and pain that all of us experience at some point in our lives--heartbreak, injury, arguments--but the second arrow is the suffering that we create by resisting it. So, accepting our reality allows us to avoid this unnecessary, self-induced pain, and find greater freedom to grow and learn from our experience.
