Steve Kuhn has been practicing yoga and meditation for over 30 years, but over the past two years, he has felt his practice deepen and become a daily devotion. Ever since 1992, when Steve suffered a traumatic brain injury from an accident at work, yoga and meditation have been important sources of healing for him. In particular, these practices have helped him learn to detach from negative thinking and acknowledge that thoughts are just mental activity and not necessarily the truth. This has helped him realize the meaning and power behind Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote: “Nothing can bring you peace, but yourself.” He is happy to share one of his favorite meditations, Leaves on a Stream, which has helped him train his mind to be less reactive.
To continue to deepen his practice, Steve is currently pursuing his 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Bali. He also participated in LoveYourBrain's first teacher training this past August. Steve is committed to sharing the two things--yoga and meditation--that have had the most significant impact on his recovery and rehabilitation with other survivors and their caregivers.
