We all know how to set goals and how good it feels to achieve them. However, setting a realistic goal can sometimes be challenging when taking into account our skills, time, passion, strengths, and our weaknesses too. So what’s the best way to set realistic goals?

  1. Be proactive. Take a look at your schedule and see if the goal you’re about to set is falling at a good time for you personally and professionally. Also, make sure you give yourself enough time to take small steps to get there!

  2. Get clear. What is it you want to achieve? How will it add to your life if you achieve this goal? This is a good time to check in with yourself and some loved ones to see if this is feasible for you. Maybe you can start with a smaller goal (ie. If you want to run a marathon, but haven’t ever run, find a 5km race near you to start)

  3. Embrace speedbumps. It is inevitable that you will run into things that did not go as planned. Rather than think of them as a setback, think of them as a chance to reevaluate where you are and maybe get clear (again).

  4. Choose your surroundings. Environment is really important when it comes to achieving goals. Surround yourself with other motivated, loving individuals and try to create an environment in your home that keeps you engaged and organized.

  5. Celebrate the small wins. Just because you haven’t reached your goal yet, doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate the milestones along the way! Be sure to give yourself credit when you’ve hit a new achievement.

What goals will you achieve this week? This month? This year?
