Fundraiser Spotlight
Prospect High School
Meet Prospect High School! Teachers Jay Heilman, Daria Schaffeld, Emily Snyder and Tina Athanasopoulos were in the middle of the neuroscience unit in their Psychology classes when each showed a documentary they’ve been sharing with their classes for years: The Crash Reel. This year’s Psychology students were inspired to take action and support LoveYourBrain! On April 3rd, Jay and his class hosted the LoveYourBrain 5K to raise funding and awareness for TBI!
Over 200 people participated in the 5K, and Prospect High School recruited over 100 volunteers to support with the logistics of hosting such a big event - from working at hydration stations to serving as crossing guards and support staff. Teachers and students also worked with local companies and organizations to make a bigger impact. Conscious Cup Coffee donated coffee, hot chocolate and tea. And the local YoungLife chapter supplied and distributed bottled water and healthy snacks to participants! Jay, Daria, Emily, Tina and their students brought the power of community to life in this epic fundraiser.
In total, Prospect High School raised $4,000 to support LoveYourBrain, and introduced hundreds of people to our organization!
