LoveYourBrain Announces Second Annual Ride for Resilience

NORWICH, Vermont - The LoveYourBrain Foundation, the leading nonprofit organization supporting people affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI) through mindfulness, yoga, and education, is kicking off its second annual Ride for Resilience, powered by Revel Bikes. This unique fundraising and community-building event takes place May 1st - 31st, 2022. LoveYourBrain’s goals are to raise $100,000 to support their work to create access, skills, science, and advocacy for the brain injury community worldwide.

Studies have shown that cycling causes more TBIs (including concussion) than football. TBI is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, with more than 3 million people in the US and Canada sustaining a TBI annually. After a brain injury, people often need to navigate new physical and emotional challenges, yet individuals - including bikers and cyclists - often lack the proper support to heal. The Ride for Resilience supports  LoveYourBrain’s vision to create a world where anyone affected by brain injury can be connected to a compassionate community, provided new tools and resources, and supported to reach their full potential.

The Ride for Resilience is a virtual, accessible event for everyone - including those who have faced adversity but strive to live well when life has changed dramatically. Participants are invited to ride on their own, create a team and host a ride in their community, join LoveYourBrain at the Five Boro Bike Tour in NYC, or just fundraise - no riding required. Participants will utilize LoveYourBrain’s suite of peer-to-peer fundraising tools to compete for prizes, and riders are encouraged to join LoveYourBrain’s club on Strava to track their mileage throughout the month.

New for 2022, the Ride for Resilience will offer a unique opportunity for participants who have been affected by brain injury (including caregivers). LoveYourBrain will host a weekly Online Mini-Retreat, where participants connect over zoom in a meetup facilitated by former professional cyclist Brett Tivers, who has sustained a TBI. Participants will also receive weekly tools to support sleep, self-care, and focus. “The Ride for Resilience was created to help you tune into your inner strengths and support system to reimagine your relationship to biking,” said Adam Pearce, co-Founder and Executive Director of LoveYourBrain.

Anyone who is passionate about biking, excited to fundraise, and interested in supporting the TBI community is encouraged to join. All styles of biking are welcome - from mountain biking, to stationary biking, hand cycling, and more.

Powered by Revel Bikes: Since 2019, Revel Bikes has connected the biking community to LoveYourBrain through an annual fundraiser and bike giveaway that’s raised over $170,000 and connected more than 6,000 individuals to the organization. Revel recognizes that head injuries are prevalent, and when a TBI does occur, people affected need a supportive and compassionate community. They’re changing the narrative from risk-prevention to risk-informed. Support from LoveYourBrain’s 2021 campaign with Revel is making this year’s Ride for Resilience and Online Mini-Retreat possible.

About LoveYourBrain

The LoveYourBrain Foundation is a national non-profit that improves the quality of life of people impacted by traumatic brain injury (TBI) and raises awareness about the importance of brain health. Guided by their family’s experience, brothers Kevin and Adam Pearce established LoveYourBrain in 2014 following Kevin’s severe TBI from a snowboarding accident prior to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Kevin’s remarkable resilience was documented and transformed into the award-winning HBO Documentary, “The Crash Reel,” which brought to light the experience and prevalence of TBI. In response, LoveYourBrain developed programs and resources designed to create community and foster resilience, which are offered worldwide. In addition, LoveYourBrain provides free online resources such as guided meditations, yoga classes, brain tips and a community blog. Visit http://www.loveyourbrain.com to learn more.
