Helena Allegra

she/her - Los Angeles, CA

LYB Mindset Facilitator

About me: Helena is a writer, trauma survivor, artist, actress, and advocate drawn to the quiet spaces where grief, tenderness, and transformation meet. She has a BA in Psychology with a concentration in Somatic Psychology and alternative ways of healing (beyond talk therapy), with a minor in Intercultural Studies. Through her own journey with post concussion symptoms, grief and loss, and trauma, she has found ways to better support herself. She doesn’t offer quick fixes, just truth, complexity, and a deep respect for what can’t be rushed or resolved. Her work is rooted in education and lived experience that is shaped by the rawness of loss, the resilience of nature, and the choice to keep growing.

Why LYB: I was blown away by the support, resilience, and comfort I found the first time I did the LYB Mindset Young Adult group. I am inspired to give back to a community that has played a pivotal role in my healing journey.

Superhero: My dad is my superhero. He taught me how to keep going when life knocks me down. After brain surgery, he still tried to hold a conversation, although fumbling through words. After emergency open-heart surgery, he found the strength to smile. His resilience was unmatched, and he chose compassion over bitterness time and again. Whether fighting for the rights of students with disabilities, offering pro bono legal work, or mentoring first-generation teens toward college, he gave selflessly. He had a heart of gold and left a legacy of strength, kindness, and service that inspires me every day.

Resources: I host a virtual support group for those with post concussion symptoms every 1st Thursday of the month from 5pm PST to 6:30pm. sign up here: https://forms.gle/wxBdqxHN1Ta9bugg8
