Exercise as Medicine:

Enhancing Recovery after Concussion
& TBI through Movement

With Dr. Timothy P. Morris
Wednesday, November 18th, 2026 6:00 - 7:15 pm ET on Zoom

Physical activity is increasingly recognized as one of the most promising tools for supporting recovery and long-term brain health after concussion and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Yet many people are left wondering: What type of exercise is helpful? How hard should I work? Is it safe? And how can I stay active when symptoms, fatigue, or other barriers get in the way?

Join LoveYourBrain for an engaging and evidence-informed Learning Lab exploring the growing science of exercise as medicine for concussion and TBI rehabilitation. This workshop will examine how physical activity can support cognitive function, brain health, mood, and overall quality of life after injury, while providing practical guidance on how to engage in exercise safely and sustainably.

Featuring Dr. Timothy P. Morris, Assistant Professor at Northeastern University, this workshop will explore current research on the role of aerobic exercise in improving cognitive function after brain injury and the mechanisms that may drive these benefits. Dr. Morris will also share innovative research focused on helping people with TBI build lasting exercise habits through behavior change strategies that support independent participation beyond structured rehabilitation programs.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • Research on benefits of exercise for cognitive and brain health after TBI

  • Strategies for engaging in exercise safely and effectively after brain injury

  • How behavior change techniques can promote long term physical activity

Whether you are living with a concussion or TBI, caring for someone who is, or working as a healthcare or rehabilitation professional, this Learning Lab will provide practical insights into how movement can be used to support recovery and lifelong brain health.

About the Facilitator

Dr. Timothy P. Morris

Dr. Timothy P. Morris is an Assistant Professor at Northeastern University where he utilizes multimodal neuroimaging and machine learning to build neural models of physical activity engagement. He uses this evidence to develop and test interventions that promote brain health across the lifespan after injury. His mission is to improve quality of life for individuals with life-changing brain injuries, through novel approaches to increase physical activity and optimize exercise for cognitive and brain health.
