The Neuroscience of Ibogaine:
Plant-Based Medicine & Healing After Brain Injury
With Dr. Derrick Buchanan
Wednesday, January 13th, 2027 6:00 - 7:15 pm ET on Zoom
LoveYourBrain is excited to present a workshop exploring the science behind ibogaine and its emerging role in brain injury recovery. Ibogaine is a naturally occurring psychoactive compound derived from the root bark of the African iboga shrub. As interest in psychedelic-assisted therapies grows, researchers are investigating how ibogaine may support neuroplasticity, mental health, and neurological healing.
Featuring Derrick Buchanan, PhD, an internationally recognized clinical neuroscientist specializing in neuropsychiatry and precision brain imaging, this Learning Lab will provide an evidence-informed look at the potential, limitations, and future of ibogaine-assisted healing after brain injury. Through his pioneering research at Stanford University's Brain Stimulation Lab, Dr. Buchanan has published peer-reviewed studies examining magnesium-ibogaine therapy in veterans with traumatic brain injury, helping advance our understanding of how novel therapies may support recovery and wellbeing.
Whether you're a person with brain injury, caregiver, clinician, or rehabilitation professional, you'll gain valuable insight into one of the most promising and rapidly evolving areas of neuroscience and recovery research.
In this workshop you can expect to:
Understand what ibogaine is and why it is being studied for TBI recovery
How plant-based medicine may support healing, neuroplasticity, and wellbeing after TBI.
About the potential benefits, risks, and limitations of ibogaine research and therapy.
