LYB Mindset Facilitator
About me: I am a TBI survivor. As a former educator, I continue to find joy in learning. As part of my recovery, I discovered mindful meditation, qigong, and yoga. I also volunteer as a co-facilitator with LYB, participate in a TBI support group, and regularly help out at a food pantry.
Why LYB: The LYB community has helped me create a “new normal” that isn’t defined by limits. It has shown me that I am resilient and has taught me how to find gratitude even in the middle of the storm. Having this kind of support network has been life-changing, and I want to share it with others who have experienced TBI—helping them find a renewed sense of normalcy and pride within themselves.
Superhero:At first, I would have said my mother. She was a strong, independent, and educated African American woman who inspired me deeply. But over the past 13 years, my definition of a hero has grown. Today, I see people living with both visible and invisible disabilities as true heroes. Every day, they rise to face the world with resilience, determination, courage, and faith.
